Smokey fully embraces the idea that life should be fun. Smokey knows no boundaries and is constantly discovering new adventures.
A day in the life of Smokey……
Smokey is always bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 4:30 am. If we do not acknowledge him, he begins pushing things off flat surfaces onto the floor. So, before Ashton and I go to bed at night, we have a ritual. We place everything breakable on the floor ourselves. We have learned the hard way.
Sometimes we find that the toilet paper has been rolled off the roll, leaving a heap of toilet paper on the floor. When this happens, we must use the toilet paper off the floor for the entire week. I am sure this must look odd to guests that visit. We never leave a roll lying out. This is what will most definitely happen…..
Sometimes Smokey practices his balancing and jumping skills. We hold our breath, hoping that nothing gets destroyed in the process.
As I get ready for school in the morning, Smokey hangs out in the linen closet. Never fear, Smokey is always near. He thinks that I can’t see him. Sometimes I don’t see him and accidentally shut him inside of the closet. Oops!
What does Smokey do all day while I’m at school? I am too afraid to know! Most likely, he sleeps. After all, he does get an early start on the day.
After I get home from school, Smokey helps clean and prepare dinner. He supervises while riding on my back. I’m not sure whether or not that’s normal.
If Ashton and I accidentally leave the pantry open, Smokey ventures inside. Yes, he is a thief. His favorite items to steal are tomatoes and marshmallows. In case you wonder, these are both very messy to clean off the wood floors. Once, we came home to a crushed tomato mess on the floor. It looked as if someone had been massacred in our home.
Occasionally, Smokey shares a meal with his dad. Smokey is never interested in my meal. Smokey and his dad are both meat eaters. I should add that I highly discourage Smokey’s eating on the bar. However, my opinion is outnumbered.
Smokey and his Dad also have a sweet tooth.
Smokey winds down from his adventurous day by relaxing (for a few moments) in front of the fire.
And when Smokey finally is tired, he crashes. He doesn’t curl into a neat ball. His tail isn’t tucked. He crashes, with everything hanging out.
We can all learn from Smokey, the Prince of Fun. Smokey lives his life with tremendous enthusiasm. Smokey is always happy. From the minute Smokey awakes, life is full of adventures, waiting to be discovered!
